Our daughter, Leandie, is 13 (almost 14). She started Grade 8 this year and has joined the cheerleading team for her school. She was never able to participate in any sports in primary school due to financial reasons and transport. We have decided to let her participate, only to find out that we need to pay R10,000 before the championships in September in Cape Town. The R10,000 includes her round trip flight (from Johannesburg), uniform, place of stay, food, their coach and the place where they will be competing. We don't have the finances to do this alone. Our family members can't help with much either. Her school says we must raise the money. So here I am, hoping that we still have some good hearted people that can spare a few rands to help my daughter achieve what she couldn't do in primary school - participate in a sport she loves. She is always watching cheerleaders on movies, sport channels etc and always says she wants to be a cheerleader. My heart breaks because she could never participate in school sports due to issues that were not her problem.
We will really appreciate any donation(s) whether a big amount or something small. In the end, it will let my daughter do what she loves. The funds will be going to the school for them for to pay for her flight, uniform, place of stay, their coach and the place of competing.
If we are able to raise the R10,000, Leandie will be able to compete in the championships in Cape Town and be able to do what she has always wanted to do - becoming a cheerleader.
