I'm going to be locked in a kennel for 12 hours on 29 October from 6 am to 6 pm to experience just a fraction of the day in the life of so many pets who are chained, caged and locked away and forgotten, neglected or even worse, abused at the hands of humans.

To make my bail and free me from my kennel, I need to raise, at minimum, R2500 as my "bail" by the end of the day on the 29th, or even before if we can!

All funds raised will go towards helping Phoenix Animal Care and Treatment, who do phenomenal work in not only rescue but also outreach, education and sterilization campaigns in the community.

Being an avid animal lover and an auditor by day, but pet mom to 5 dogs, two parrots, a colony of feral cats, fish and even a pet frog by night, this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart.

Reaching my target will mean that PACT can pay off part of their never-ending vet expenses, plan more sterilization campaigns and keep doing the incredible work they do to save animals' lives everywhere and enrich the lives of so many people and animals that they encounter.

For me, this is a personal challenge as well. I have been through some really bad times, and it's only through the love and support of my therapy dog, Edgar, and his little sister, a rescue Pomeranian named Olivia Newton Pom, and the other pets that I've been able to get through. 

I've dedicated a lot of my life and free time to assisting animal rescues with their fantastic work, and I consider it an honour to know people like Neeri, Candice, Deshni, Kerry and the whole team at PACT. This campaign serves to educate people on the plight of animals and highlight the selfless work to which this team devotes itself.

Animals are very special, and I genuinely believe in being a voice for the voiceless.

The funds will be used towards vet bills, sterilization campaigns, animal education, and awareness about animal rights and the ongoing war against animal Abuse in our society.
