Hi, my name is Lamangwe Vezi. I have been selected to represent South Africa as a Federation of International Touch (FIT) official at the World Cup, taking place in Nottingham, England, from the 15th to the 21st of July 2024. I became involved in Touch Rugby in 2010. Fourteen years later, I continue to be passionate about this sport and have represented the KZN Touch Sharks as a junior, the Eastern Touch Association (ETA) as a senior, and the South African Touch Association (SATA) as a referee at junior and senior interprovincial tournaments since 2017. I had long aspired to represent the country at a World Cup, therefore I am incredibly appreciative of the chance. It has already been a pleasure to be able to accomplish the initial steps of this goal by making the national team. Touch rugby is, regrettably, a pay-to-play sport because SATA does not receive any national subsidies. I will have to pay for this event (the 2024 World Cup) on my own. The estimated cost will be around R53 000-00. The R53 000-00 is split as follows: R23 000-00 to be paid to South African Touch Association (SATA) for: Accommodation Meals Local Transport World Cup referee Kit. Coaches and Managers. R30 000-00 for my arrangement of the following: UK Visa Return flight from JHB to England Medical (doctor and Physio)I cannot cover the entire cost of the World Cup on my own because it is R53 000. My goal is to officiate Touch Rugby for my country; therefore, any help or money would be very welcomed and would make a big difference.
Kind Regards
Lamangwe Clare Vezi
