Tee, Ty, Robs and Marty. Four friends will do Ironman 2020. A bold decision suggested on a whim, settled over a (lot of) wine. Not just because we can – not all of us can swim yet, not all of us can run 5km yet, none of us can pull off a tri-suit - but because we can be the reason someone Smiles today. And for the rest of their life.

Fuelled by laughter and love, friendship and family we’ve plotted out our long route to the finish line that includes the starting line of many other races. Along with an estimated, combined 2500 hours of training, we’ll be competing in events totalling, between us, 2700km on bike and 1200km on trail. Everywhere we compete it will be as ambassadors of the Smile Foundation, raising awareness of the incredibly empowering work this South African NGO does to surgically help children with facial abnormalities.

We’ll sweat it out with a Smile at Attakwas Extreme Mountainbike, The Cape Herald Continental Cycling Tour, The Cape Argus Cycling Tour, The Hobbit, The Whale, TransBaviaans, The Otter, Karoo2Coast and Dryland Traverse.

Smiling because we can, and Smile Foundation because Martin and Therese's son Oliver was born with a cleft palate. We know how valuable the operations are.

Please Smile with us throughout training and donate to the fund, as we aim to raise R40 000 for Smile Foundation before we rock those tri-suits in March 2020 at Ironman South Africa.
