Dear Donor,
Thanks for viewing my campaign. Every year hundred of learners are faced with having to make decisions about their career choices. Due to the lack of counselors and scarce resources, learners don't allow themselves to dream. This has a negative impact on the type of work they choose, and on society as a whole.
The shortage of career counselors in South African rural schools has a big impact on students. Studies by Smith et al. (2021) and Johnson and Mbatha (2020) show that not having enough counselors hurts students' ability to plan their futures. With limited resources, students in these areas miss out on vital information and support, leading to poorer academic performance and a higher risk of dropping out (Molefe, 2019).
This is a serious problem because it limits these students' chances for further education and good jobs. To address this, I would like to conduct career guidance session within remote locations. This will include a personality assessment and provide options based on skills, interests and abilities.
Money raised, will be used for transport to outlying areas and reading workbooks and workshop materials for learners. Additionally, and contingent to funding, we will employ the services of qualified counsellors who will cover a greater area and frequently return to remote regions to provide ongoing support to learners, not only for career guidance, but overall mental wellness.
