Motivational letter

Dear Sir/Madam

I am Jordan Meyer, a 23year old from the farming community of Simondium/Pniel in the Western Cape. I am in my 3rd year of my 2nd degree, an LLB at the University of the Western Cape. My 1st degree, a Bachelor of Social Sciences majoring in Politics & Governance and Sociology was completed at the University of Cape Town.

In my 1st year of my 2nd degree, I was placed on the Deans merit list, the Top achievers list and invited to become part of the Golden Key Honours Society for being in the top 15% of my year when I finished with an above 75% average.  Sadly in my 2nd year, there were many challenges which could be elaborated on should the need arise and because of these, I was only able to score 66% in my year end exams. This to me was a huge disappointment as my aim was to achieve above 75%.

I have had to persevere and manage challenges along the way, which leads me to believe that I deeply understand the value of hard work, organization, teamwork and resilience. This has become very evident in my life in the past couple of years as a student who has had to besides studying, work a part time job to pay my studies. I pride myself in being a hardworking, driven and well-rounded individual who can achieve whatever I put my mind to. I currently run a courier delivery service between the libraries of the 4 Western Cape Universities which assists me in paying off my student loans. Up until last year this was done twice a week but due to financial constraints at the universities, this will now only happen once a week at a reduced rate. I have for the 2023/2024 vacation period accepted a job opportunity at Farbers Coach works, doing Insurance claim assessments and other general driving and admin tasks. This assisted me in registering for my 3rd year.

With all of the above in mind, I humbly request assistance in helping me pay my 3rd year fees, private accommodation and books.

My total costs for the year are:

Tuition:                                     R  38 000.00

Accommodation & Transport:    R  60 000.00

Books:                                      R    8 829.00

Total                                        R106 829.00

-      Family & Other Funding   R  65 000.00

Shortfall                                  R  41 829.00

 I humbly request your assistance in helping me reach my target of R 41 829 or any delivery jobs you may have in return for a contribution towards this shortfall.
