Personal message

John Brophy is a recovering addict. He has been battling with addiction from the age of 12, his drugs of choice being heroin and crystal meth.

My addiction took me to 17 institutions all over South Africa and eventually got me to a 5 year prison sentence. My journey in recovery started on the 23-05-19.  Today, I am grateful to be a part of and to share my experience, strength and hope to those who are still suffering.

Sport offers me meaning in my life and makes me feel part of something greater. It makes me feel free and motivates me to be the best I can be. It inspires me to achieve goals I never even dreamed of and provides me with true happiness and excitement.

It’s my “feeling good” remedy. It gives me a sense of purpose and draws me closer to positive people.  Then I can build meaningful relationships. It teaches me discipline, to persevere and to never give up no matter how I feel.

I dedicate my 97/7 to help raise awareness, to those still suffering in addiction.

Help me with my case to help others in need of a new way of life.
