Personal message

WE WERE HAPPY TO HEAR FROM JENNY THIS MORNING THAT SHE AND THE TEAM COMPLETED THE WALK IN 7 DAYS! CONGRATULATIONS JENNY, FROM ALL AT BACKABUDDY..

Jenny Munton - Hike for CHOC - Naukluft, Namibia, July 2008.

I am about to embark on a very special experience. I plan to spend 8 days covering 120km of difficult terrain, including climbing numerous chains, in the Naukluft Valley in Namibia. It is the most difficult hike in Southern Africa. I am doing this at 61 and as a survivor of cancer.

In 2000, I embarked on a very demanding experience of a diferent nature - 6 months of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer. I was fortunate enough to succeed in overcoming all obstacles then.

In hiking in Naukluft, I will be rejoicing at the beauty and thanking God for having survived to see the beauty of such a wonderful place. The children of CHOC have not had many years of life before having to undergo chemotherapy and without our help, many will not have the chance to experience a future, nor see such beauties of nature.

I therefore would like to request donations to CHOC, so that I can hold their special work in my heart during the hike and contribute to making it possible for as many children as possible to have the opportunity to experience a full life after cancer.

Please make credit card donations by visiting the secure BackaBuddy website at www.backabuddy.co.za. The system will help you through the simple payment process, and you will receive an immediate email acklnowledgment. Your donation, and any words of encouragement, will then appear on my free BackaBuddy webpage and will also be reported directly to CHOC.

Thank you for supporting this good cause.

Kind regards

Jenny Munton

CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation

Charity Default Logo

CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA is the only organisation in South Africa that provides comprehensive countrywide support for children with cancer and other life-threatening blood disorders, and their families. CHOC has a head office in Johannesburg, six regional offices, two branches, and 12 accommodation facilities close to treatment centres. CHOC relies heavily on corporate sponsors, donations from groups or individuals wanting to make a difference in the lives of these little ones.

Their comprehensive support improves the welfare and quality of care of children with cancer and offers families a wide range of psychosocial services and practical support such as counselling, free accommodation, free transport and transport fund to ensure that no child abandons treatment due to the family not affording transport costs, food parcels as they recognise the financial difficulties families often face and parent to parent support groups. CHOC also plays a leading advocacy role and promotes early detection to save lives nationally.
