I'm Jenny Pratt. In December 2021, my husband, Jason, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis after years of battling unknown health issues. Since the diagnosis, he has experienced a significant decline in both mental and physical health, preventing him from working since March 2021. This has led to the loss of our home and put our business on the brink of bankruptcy.

Despite my efforts to sustain his business while juggling frequent doctor visits and hospital stays, it's becoming increasingly challenging. Jason's cognitive abilities and memory have been severely impacted. Although he's receiving treatment at Johannesburg Academic Hospital and taking prescribed medication, he refuses to accept his MS diagnosis due to the severity of the lesions. Constantly depressed and feeling that life is over, he has turned to alcohol as a coping mechanism.

I've consulted with a social worker, and the recommended solution is to have Jason committed to a facility for a 6-month stay, addressing both his addiction and the critical psychological support he needs. The cost is R30,000.00, and an additional R7,000.00 is required for the court order and intervention team. Unfortunately, I cannot afford these expenses, and I'm feeling trapped, watching my husband deteriorate every day.

Living with his outbursts and witnessing the constant falls and injuries is incredibly challenging. If you can assist in any small way, I would greatly appreciate it. Your support can make a meaningful difference in getting the help Jason urgently requires.
