Jade Adams, a 25 year old talented dancer from a small community in Cape Town better known as Northpine, got the opportunity to represent her country yet again at the World Dance Championships.
On November 12th 2023, Jade along with her team (Basic Black) competed in the DanceStar Cape Town qualifier competition. To their surprise the team managed to achieve 1st place in the Urban Senior Formation section and they have qualified to represent TeamSA in Porec Croatia in May 2024. To top it off, Basic Black got chosen as the team with the overall best choreography out of the entire competition. Basic Black is very well known when it comes to the DanceStar stage as they previously won gold 2 years in a row overseas. This is Jade's first time competing with Basic Black, and to achieve such an award on your first try is commendable.
Jade is currently a Physical Education Coach at Bernadino Heights High School with the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS). She also teaches at 2 dance studios in her community. Jade is a hardworking, resilient and driven individual. She is constantly displaying her love and passion for dance in hopes that it will encourage kids from her community to never give up on their dreams. Unfortunately due to major financial obligations Jade is unable to raise this kind of funds on her own and this is where you, the reader, comes in.
Coming from a single-parent household and being the only bread winner at home sometimes comes with financial constraints. In order for Jade to go overseas with her team she will need to raise approximately R40 000 in funds. This amount is for the following:
- Schengen Visa approx. R 1650.00
- Airfare - Cape Town > Venice > Cape Town approx. R7600.00
- Tour package approx. R5300.00
The tour package includes, transfer from Venice airport to Porec Croatia and back, 8 nights accommodation (2* hotel), as well as their SA Team Tracksuit.
The experience Jade will gain from competing at this World Championships will give her the opportunity to come back home and share her knowledge with other dancers in disadvantaged communities. She will not be able to reach her goal without your help, any donations big/small would mean the world to us. Please help Jade get to Croatia 2024.
