Every day, at high tide, oceans swell and move up river streams, only to recede at low tide, pulling water back into her vastness Every day, this tide collects thousands of pieces of plastic, from bottles and flip flops, to discarded lighters, earbud sticksand shreds of polystyrene – and sucks them out to sea.
After just two days picking up plastic rubbish at the mouth of the Liesbeek River in Paarden Eiland, we realised: This is urgent. Every day counts. Each bit of plastic removed is vital for the survival of life.
Help us raise funds to support our Nature Helpers.

Ikamva Labantu Charitable Trust

In the early 1960s, Helen Lieberman and other courageous activists responded to the unjust conditions of South African Apartheid by setting up survival initiatives in the Western Cape. In 1992, the coordination of these initiatives was formalised and Ikamva Labantu, meaning “Future of The People”, was launched as a non-governmental and non-profit organisation. Ikamva Labantu’s work focuses on early childhood development, the well-being of older persons and after-school initiatives that keep children safe and off the streets.
