Good Day, I’m Redmond Louw, and part of The Character Company a local NPO that’s very close to my heart.

The Character Company is a long-term MENtorship program for young boys growing up with absent fathers and no positive male role models in their lives. Current statistics tell us that 70% of children in South Africa are growing up in single-parent homes and, in our experience, 4 out of 5 boys do not have a positive male role model in their lives. It is easy to see that the challenges we face in South Africa stem from being a fatherless nation. At the Character Company, a group of dedicated men and woman from all walks of life dedicate their efforts to raising boys to be good men. With a generation of boys growing into strong, positive male role models and living a life based on values, we can address issues like gender-based violence, corruption, and racism and bring about the change we all so desperately need.

Our direct beneficiaries are boys from single-mom homes and the families impacted by this. Society at large benefits from boys that are no longer part of the rape, murder, violence, and other crime stats. We have over 250 boys in full-time MENtorship across the country with 100’s more on a waiting list – waiting for faithful, available, and teachable men to step up and stand in the gap for these young men. We are currently operating in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo.

As part of our October fundraising, I'm raising R10,000.00.
