Personal message

The UCT Ikey Tigers Varsity Cup Rugby Squad will complete our annual "Ikey's Run For Hope" in the form of a 60km relay run around the Cape Penninsula. The event is scheduled for Thursday 13  December and will start and end at the Green Mile at UCT. The UCT Rugby FC, UCT's Just Kidding and  Varsity Cup have agreed to market the event on their social media platforms. These platforms provide an opportunity to display an association with the club and support for the initiative.

As part of an ongoing relationship the event will donate proceeds to 'Periods for Hope' (an organisation established by fellow UCT students that provides sanitary products to young women). Additionally this year the club has decided to support the local 'AmaDoda' initiative (described as "a social vehicle committed to building a generation of African men that fulfill their role in society by exhibiting Ubuntu and leadership, particularly against abuse of women and children" ).

Connect Network  NPC (a CIPC registered NPO) will be admiistering the event and as a result, donors can receive the following:

  • A section 18A certificate - to be issued to South African individual donors  or companies who wish to claim their donations as a tax-deductable expense.
  • Necessary documentation to claim SED points for B-BBEE scorecard
  • Grant in-aid for UK donors (donate via UK fund for charities and be sure to select Connect Network)

We look forward to creating a fun-filled event capable of making a meaningful impact. PLease do not  hesitate to contact us at :
