30 year review of South Africa

In 2024 it will be 30 years since the first democratic elections were held ushering in
the first democratic government in South Africa.
There have been huge leaps forward in terms of delivery of basic services such as
housing, water, health, electricity, and education. There have also been many failures
and shortfalls.
It would be of great value to have a balanced assessment of the progress made in
the country over the last 30 years. Such an assessment should be independent of
government and political parties and cover key areas including the economy, health,
education, science, housing and other basic social services.
A group of well-known academics and other South Africans have been commissioned
by Seriti Sa Sechaba Publishers NPC to do such a Review. They include well-known
academics such Professors Kwandiwe Kondlo, JP Landman and Somadoda Fikeni.
Other writers who are experts in the various fields that from part of the Review are
being, approached.
This will be a historic project that will be a useful frame of reference in future for this
crucial period of democracy. In this way it will be a valuable memento, especially
considering the calibre of contributors.
