Personal message

My passion for helping disadvantaged children began in 2007 when I started at KFC. I did not get to where I am because I lost my parents and did not have shoes or lunch for school as a child. I have experienced hardships, which motivates me to help where I can.

For this reason, I have decided to Ride for a Child. Along with the ADDHope initiative of KFC, giving back has become a culture for me, and the fact that a child will be getting food on the table and shoes for school is motivation.

Molani is my little buddy for this year. Molani is a quiet and shy little girl who has experienced some of the worst forms of Abuse, but since coming to Home of Hope, she has learned to trust adults and enjoy being a child.

Because Molani was exposed to alcohol in the womb, she suffers from Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, which has limited her fine and gross motor skills and cognitive abilities. Because she has difficulty learning, she attends Amathemba Special Needs School.

Funds raised through this campaign will go towards the daily Home needs and the specialized education of Molani. Home of Hope will do all possible to provide her with the best services that will meet her unique needs and provide her with opportunities for a brighter future.

The Cape Town Cycle Tour will take place on the 12th of March 2023.

Charity Default Logo

Home of Hope was started in 2005, and we are an NPO that cares for abandoned and abused children and children with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD – permanent brain damage caused by pre-natal exposure to alcohol). We are a registered place of safety and we have 19 children in our long term community based foster care.

The organisation also caters for the special educational needs of children suffering from FAS (Foetal Alcohol Syndrome) and neurological challenges, in our Amathemba Learning Centre. There are currently 37 children at our Amathemba Learning Centre.
