My name is Jack and my family and myself is trying to raise funds for my brother Henk Viljoen.

I am adding this update today 4 Feb 2024  in addition to the original message I posted.....

Henk went back to Rehabilitaton Hospital but after only about a week there suffered another setback when he contracted Klepsiella Pneumonia, wound and bladder infection! He was rushed back to Netcare Millpark ICU, He is now awaiting surgery to redo the right ureter that was severed by accident in one of the  "botched" surgeries in October 2023, The Dr is under the opinion that this is causing his infection. He also tested positive for Clostridioides difficile yeterday which means the surgery can only follow once this  is cleared up :-(

23 January 2024 marks 5 months in Hospital since Henk went for surgery to remove a obstructed piece of his small bowel intestine. The operation took over 5 hours and complications set in a few days later and he was rushed back to theatre for emergency operation, once again days later more complications and Henk was rushed back to theatre, in total spend over 10 hours in theatre. Over the next few weeks we feared a few times that he was not going to make it. 
 
Eventually he was due for discharged on 3 October 2023 but on that morning he suffered a massive stroke that left his Left and Right side paralysed. He regained movement over the next few weeks of his right side and was transfered to a Rehabilition Hospital a few weeks later. 
 
Unfortunately a few days after arriving his lung collapsed and he was rushed to Netcare Milpark ICU. Once again Henk fought against the odds and recovered but at this stage lost about half his body weight and is still currenly fed throug a tube, in the last 7 days he started moving his left arm and big toe of the left foot. The road to recovery is going to be extremely long and we would like to raise funds towards his medical aid,  to buy a Mobility Scooter and do the nessasary modifications at his house for when he gets discharge from Hospital. He is currently still in ICU and if all goes well will be transfered to Rehabilition Hospital on 22 January.
