Personal message
Every year, thosands of children are diagnosed with Leukaemia and other bone marrow cancers. Their only chance of living is a transplant from a healthy donor. But chances of finding a matching donor are just 1 in 100,000 and this is where the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR) comes in. They are the only Registry in South Africa and are dedicated to finding matching donors for children whose lives depend on a transplant - now that is what I call a CHALLENGE! As a nonprofit organisation, the SABMR relies on donations to keep up their life-saving work. This year I am doing the IMPI in aid of the SABMR. My target is to raise R2,000 and help save lives. The only one of its kind in South Africa, the SABMR is committed to helping every patient referred to it. If there is no matching donor in South Africa, we take our search worldwide - “We search the world to find your perfect match”.
