2019 will mark my début Comrades Marathon!

If anyone had told me four years ago that I would be running an Ultra Marathon at the age of 46 I would have laughed out loud!

It would be such an honour to enter this challenge under the motivation of an absolutely worthy cause such as the Rainbows and Smiles Foundation.

I bear witness to the heart wrenching effects of Cancer on the victims and their families and friends. My 61 year old dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in July 2010 and our sadness was inconsolable when he passed on 16thOctober 2010. There was hardly time to come to terms with what had happened. Cancer had claimed one of the most important people in my life.

My challenge of running a 90km race on 09 June 2019 for a period of a good few hours seems daunting but suddenly so insignificant in relation to the challenges of the children suffering because of cancer and other dreaded diseases.

I will run with a smile on my face if it means I get do it for the children of Rainbows and Smiles
