Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

I come to you with a plea for help and hope. My brother, Gideon, is currently fighting for his life following a devastating accident to the head and brain that has left him hospitalised at Netcare Alberton Hospital since January 8, 2024. As his sister, I find it difficult to describe the depth of our family's distress and the uncertainty ahead.

Gideon, a vibrant active soul, was admitted to the Trauma ICU under the care of Dr. Wiebo and A van der Meulen, skilled Neurosurgeons. The severity of his injuries has resulted in a prolonged stay at the Intensive Care Unit, and at this juncture, we are unable to determine the duration of his recovery or when he will be moved to a rehabilitation centre for the next phase of his healing journey.

The medical team at Netcare Alberton, including Trauma & Acute Critical Care Surgeon Dr. Mogabe PD, has been tirelessly working to stabilise Gideon. However, the road to recovery is long, and the financial burden associated with extensive medical care is substantial.

Here is where your support becomes paramount. The funds raised will serve several critical purposes; more importantly, they will cover Gideon's current medical expenses, including surgical procedures, medications, and specialised treatments. Additionally, as he progresses in his recovery, these funds will be pivotal in facilitating his transition to a rehabilitation centre, where he will receive the specialised care needed to regain his strength and independence.

The impact of your contributions extends far beyond financial assistance. Your support is a lifeline, a beacon of hope during our darkest hours. As Gideon's sister, seeing the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and even strangers fills my heart with gratitude and renewed determination.

It means alleviating the immense financial strain on our family, allowing us to focus entirely on supporting Gideon through this challenging journey.

The funds raised will be meticulously utilised to cover medical bills, ongoing treatments, rehabilitation services, and any unforeseen expenses that may arise during Gideon's recovery. Complete transparency will be maintained, funds raised will be paid directly to the relevant organisations/institutions by Back a Buddy, and regular updates will be shared with our generous supporters.

We fervently pray for Gideon's complete healing, believing that he will regain full function of his right side and ultimately walk out of the rehabilitation facility on his own strength, fully recovered.
