Personal message

Running is an integral part of my life; it is something I cannot do without. I have run 5 Comrades, 4 of which have been to raise funds and awareness for Rainbows and Smiles.

The past year has provided its fair share of challenges for me: having moved out of the city, away from my running support team and the all too familiar suburban roads I could run at 4:30 am.

Now, living in the bushveld, with no running support team and only long straight sand roads, has given me a new lease of life - hope and the realisation that I can still run. Unlike children with cancer.

The Comrades Centenary Hope Challenge will be a new challenge for me as I will be running the 45km alone, on a straight sand road with no fellow runners or support crew to urge me on. But I choose to do it that way as those who fight cancer, have to do so on their own, ultimately, as only they know and experience the pain and suffering they face on a daily basis.

In order for Rainbows and Smiles to help these darling children, any donation, big or small, will go a long way in easing their suffering.
