HELP HEAL THE SICK AND WOUNDED BY DONATING IN SUPPORT OF SHELTER MEDICINE & HEALTH

Shelter medicine and the health and wellbeing of shelter animals is vital. This is particularly crucial in pro-life shelters where rescued and abandoned animals spend longer periods of time waiting for homes. However, in the ongoing battle for funding within the animal welfare environment, the availability of sufficient funding to attend to on-site, daily health needs, as well as emergency or serious cases, is often very limited or non-existent. Shelters need to appeal case by case in a bid to attend to health requirements and this takes time - a luxury that shelters cannot afford in the quest for proactive, preventative health. PAWS R US (SA) is a companion animal shelter in Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa and a registered Non-Profit Company. We have 230 rescued dogs in our care, in all shapes and sizes, and across all breed mixes and age categories. All incoming dogs are sterilised, vaccinated, de-wormed and micro-chipped as baseline procedure. Once on-site, the dogs are monitored and treated for 'maintenance' needs (e.g. ticks and fleas, mites in ears, nails and dew-claws etc.), along with vigilance around serious health needs (e.g. breaks or fractures, tumours and growths, emergency outbreaks etc.) All of this requires funds so that our rescued dogs have the best possible level of care.  

 

We are aiming for a conservative target of R20 000 in this campaign in order to:

1. Spend R10 000 to purchase critical medical supplies for the months ahead (a list can be made available on request), and

2. Use R10 000 towards the vital scans and procedures required now for our urgent medical cases. We know that this will not be enough to cover most of the key procedures, but we need to make a start, and we know that increasing the fundraising target may push it out of our reach. 

 

EVERY SINGLE CENT HELPS TO KEEP DOGS HAPPY AND HEALTHY. Therefore, every single donation matters, no matter how big or small. We ask you to HELP US HELP THEM live their best lives - even while waiting in a shelter environment for blessings to find them.
