Dear Friends and Supporters,
Meet Fatima Lakay, a devoted wife and mother of four who was recently dealt the life altering diagnosis of kidney disease in late November 2023.
Just when the Lakay family thought things couldn't get more challenging, on February 8th, 2024, they received the heart-wrenching news that her kidneys are now functioning at a mere 10%.
This news has shaken Fatima and our family to the core. At 54 years old, our mom's options for treatment are limited. The state hospital cannot provide the necessary kidney dialysis, and any hope for medical intervention lies in expensive private treatment, which the family simply cannot afford.
Adding to their burden, the family has been financially crippled by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Fatima and her husband's health conditions prevent them from working, leaving their two sons to shoulder the responsibility of providing for the family.
Without medical aid and facing waiting periods of up to a year, time is not on Fatima's side. Doctors have delivered the harsh reality that her condition has drastically shortened her lifespan.
In our darkest hour, we are turning to you, the community, for help. We are launching this crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for our moms urgent medical expenses.
