Good Day

My name is Ernest Phungula, I am 30 years old and currently working as a life guard in Ballito at Willards beach. I am a passionate triathlete with a good record from my previous races. I have been selected to compete and represent South Africa in the World Duathlon Championships 2024 in Australia Townsville. I am truly honoured to represent my country.

I was born and raised in Thembeni Groutville, Northern KZN and I started taking part in Triathlons 2022, I come from a disadvantaged community and family although I managed to break through against all odds to come out of my situation by making positive choices including my journey towards being a Lifegaurd.

I am under the leadership and training of Glen Gore whom is not only my coach but the Chairman of Triathlon KZN and his mentorship and guidance has helped me to reach the level at which I am as I am part the Tri Lab Multisport team based in Durban KZN and I have landed on the podium for 80% of the races I have competed in along with top finishes in position n.o 1.

I currently do not have have any form of sponsorships and I am currently in need of any form of help toward the travel to Australia, Townsville. I am willing to accept accommodation and flights any form of assistance. I am a hard hard working honest young man with great potential.

Through this funding I should be able to secure:

*Accommodation for 13 days- R33000.00

*Return flights economy -R38000.00

*Bicycle carriage/packaging and sports baggage allowance by flight-R2099.00 + bicycle case -R10371.00 ( please help with second hands to reduce funds required)

*Australian travel Visa-R1700.00

*World Duathlon Australia registration fee - R2500.00

*Food/Water 13 days -R11400.00

Major races - Tinman , Durban ultra (4) SA Triathlon champs, KZN Triathlon Champs Champs , SA Triathlon Championship Port Elizabeth

Your help will be very much appreciated and it will make a difference as children and mostly the youth in my community look up to me. By taking part in the World Championships I will be able to gain more experience and build a suitable profile to guide and do good for my community and large.

I am looking forward to this journey as it has been my ultimate goal and I do not believe I should miss this opportunity due to lack of funds.
