Personal message

Hi, my name is Eoin O'Driscoll from Craighall, and I have , decided to participate in the 947 JHB Ride to raise much-needed funds for the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR).

At any given time, a few hundred South Africans who suffer from blood-related disorders such as leukaemia reach the point where their only chance of survival is a bone marrow transplant. While 30% are able to find a donor within their families, for 70% of patients, their only hope is to find a match unrelated donor – this is where the SABMR comes in, providing a second chance by finding a donor to those who so desperately need it.

On 21 November 2021, I will be cycling alongside 26 cyclists who form part of the SABMR Ride For A Purpose team. I am hoping that you would consider donating to this worthy cause for the SABMR to continue the lifesaving work they do. All proceeds from the ride will go towards the SABMR's Patient Assistance Programme, which helps families who are not in the financial position to be able to cover the cost of a donor search.

Charity Default Logo

The South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR) exists to help find matching bone marrow donors for critically ill South African children and adults who need a transplant but do not have a match within their own family. The only one of its kind in South Africa, the SABMR is committed to helping every patient referred to it. If there is no matching donor in South Africa, we take our search worldwide - “We search the world to find your perfect match”.
