Help Dewald overcome bike accident

My name is Carmen and I have created this account, but it isn't only me behind here, Myself and Deon and the bike community has come together to support and help each other as much as we can.

Tragically, a dear friend , Dewald Pretorius (28) , went down on his bike Sunday the 25th of Feb. He was aided and rushed to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.

( for those who want to know the cause of the accident - I have added it at the end)

The hospital got him stable and assessed his injuries. They had found that he had :
A badly broken arm, a broken wrist, fractured hip and neck pain.

Dewald spent a week in hospital, but unfortunately was unable to receive any needed operations due to no medical aid.

After Dewald was discharged, he decided to get a second opinion and his injuries were confirmed as the following:

Broke his neck @ C7 ,
Both arms
one of his hands

Cracked Pelvis and
torn ligament in his shoulder.

Now the tough part. At the moment is his arm is the top priority and the rest of his injuries will have to wait , he needs his hands and arms to earn a living, without medical aid, its near impossible to get the operation done.

The Funds raised, will go towards fixing his arm, the reason the funds will go directly to Dewald, is so that it may cover any necessary pre-op procedures, medications as well as follow ups/Check ups post surgery and any unforeseen complications that may arise.

It can be incredibly frustrating seeing a friend in need and needing medical care when accidents happen. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this far. If you cannot contribute, please give this a share instead.

- What happened -

Dewald was on his way with friends to Satellite road. Just coming from assisting another rider who had also gone down.

not an hour later, Dewalds rear tire slipped out on a curve and while trying to correct and save the bike it slipped out @ 120 and he went down.
