Greetings all
My name is Demi Muller, and I am a deaf student aspiring to make a difference. Currently studying psychology and French at the University of Western Cape, I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa and moved frequently with my family to be closer to the special skills school I attended at the time. Diagnosed with deafness in both ears at the age of two, I underwent cochlear implant surgery on both ears to improve my hearing.
I started attending Carel du Toit at two years old so that my speech wouldn't be delayed. This decision had a significant impact on my life as
it enabled me to communicate with both deaf and hearing people effectively.
As I grew older, I excelled in my classes, thanks to the education I received and my determination to succeed. Despite financial difficulties, my mother worked tirelessly to fundraise for my cochlear implants, and I am immensely grateful for her efforts. I always wanted to repay her for it, so I focused on my studies and career goals to provide my family with a better life.
Unfortunately, I lost the cochlear implant on my left ear at Gordon's Bay Main Beach, and despite extensive efforts, I haven't been able to retrieve it. Inspired by my mother's perseverance, I am fundraising for a new cochlear implant. I plan to have bake sales on my university, sell food in my community, and request small donations from fellow students. The cochlear implant includes a sound processor, a battery, a coil, and a magnet.
Any contribution towards my R200,000 goal would be appreciated, as hearing has enabled me to achieve great things despite my disability, and I can only continue to prosper if I can hear well.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
Sincerely,
Demi Muller

Hearing Again Campaign

Good day, everyone. I hope this finds you well.
My name is Demi Muller and I am deaf. So are many others. Not being able to hear affects our quality of life and overall functioning. I got diagnosed deaf when I was 2 years old in both ears.
Ever since, my family did their utmost best to help me get the best hearing possible. I am 20 years old now, beating all the odds, I am in university studying psychology and french. I am in great need of a cochlear and many others. If I can get a new cochlear, I will be able to listen in lecturers and overall, improve my quality of life. All the funds that is raised by this fundraiser will go to charity organization called HearRus.
Money raised assists deaf adults and children who are candidates for cochlear implantation with the costs of the cochlear implant hardware, ongoing maintenance costs (spare parts, repairs, and upgrades), and contribute to rehabilitation and diagnostic costs as necessary. I need your help to help me and others who needs to hear. I am asking this from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you, sincerely so.
