Dear Friends and Family
I am not sure if you have ever experienced the throat closing feeling of watching nature come alive for the first time in a small child's eyes. I have, and it changes you forever. This is a cause that is extremely important to me personally, and to the country of Botswana.
Children in the Wilderness is a wonderful programme that creates the opportunity for the disadvantaged children of Botswana to learn life skills, as well as instilling in them a passion for their environment. We hope these kids take with them a feeling of responsibility for the wild areas of their country, and grow up to watch over its extraordinary wildlife. At the same time, we strive to ensure that we help them in gaining the life skills that will help them through their own lives- some of which are difficult indeed. As part of our ongoing efforts to raise funds for this wortwhile cause we thought we would join the rest of the world in soccer mania! Children in the Wilderness Botswana and Wilderness Safaris are proud to announce the Soccer in the Wilderness Tournament!
In 2010, over a period of three months, a soccer tournament will take place between all our Wilderness Safaris concessions in Botswana – a battle of the Titans between six soccer teams made up of staff from each concession. Play-offs will take place in March with the final happening at Vumbura Plains on the 1st of May 2010 – it promises to be mighty clash, filled with excitement and thrills!
Soccer in the Wilderness has been conceived and is run by Wilderness Safaris Botswana staff members themselves, combining their love of Children in the Wilderness programmes with the Wilderness aim of promoting healthy lifestyles amongst its people. My team is the Maun Donkeys and we are going to kick some ass (excuse the pun)!
Donating through the backabuddy/easygiving website is simple, fast and secure.
