Dear Friends and Family,

We are reaching out with a heavy heart about something deeply personal and close to us all. As many of you know, our dear Cornelia, beloved wife and incredible mother to her four wonderful daughters, is in the final stages of her battle with Motor Neuron Disease.

Cornelia was misdiagnosed for almost 2 years and as a result, when she was recently correctly diagnosed, she found herself in the very final stages. Needless to say, any form of preparation for the future was not made leaving them in a very difficult position.

Her strength and courage have been an inspiration, yet her time with us is heartbreakingly limited.

In these difficult days her husband Günter and the three children are doing everything in their power to be there for her. With Günter as the primary caregiver, his time is limited to earn an income. The demands of this moment are immense, including the financial demand, and they weigh heavily on the household already burdened by impending loss.

We are setting up a fund to support them in these trying times to help with the care needs of Cornelia and to prepare for necessary future expenses. This is our chance to stand with them, to offer not just emotional support but also ease their financial strains. As Cornelia's three youngest daughters are still school going age this fund could also possibly help them towards achieving their future dreams in the absence of their mother.

If our goal is met any additional funds will be put in a trust specifically for the girls future.

Your contribution, big or small, will make a significant difference. It's not just a donation; it's a gesture of love, a way for us to be there for them, to let them know they are not alone.

If everybody can put this out there on their respective social media platforms as a really sad example of the system not quite fulfilling it role.

It is unfortunate that this was only properly diagnosed a month ago. Well done to the fantastic staff at Groote Schuur Hospital!

The outcome would have been the same had it been picked up earlier however a lot of preparation could have been made for the family sparing Cornelia the added stress of now trying to get everything in place for when she is gone.

Every little bit will help so lets do our best for Cornelia and her Family!
