Personal message
Conwill grew up on a wine farm just outside of Worcester, where both his parents has been working for the last 10 years plus. He attended the small farm school, Bet-El Primary. He didn’t have any access to rugby training at the school because there were no sport facilities. He kept busy at home with his rugby ball and friends.
In grade 7 he started attending Worcester R.C. Primary. From day one in his new school, he wanted to take part in all sports. His parents reminded him that his school work had to come first in order for him to partake in sports. Like a good boy, he showed discipline in his school work.
He competed in athletics for the first time at the age of 12 and excelled in it. He was chosen for the Worcester Athletics team. A natural athlete was born. This was a great base for the upcoming rugby season.
Finally he could start playing the sport he loves so dear. His teachers saw his natural talent and motivated him to continue on his rugby journey. His parents were so proud and inspired by their son. We all were cheering him on!
Having never been exposed to any school boy rugby games it was overwhelming at first but soon it was all he wanted to do. His humbleness, raw talent and motivation lead him to the Provincial Rugby Competition. He showed amazing form, discipline and character in each game.
Finally on the 22nd of May 2023 this young boy’s life changed forever, when his named was called for the Boland Academy Rugby Team.
Rugby has come such a long way in South Africa and it has inspired so many players to reach for their dreams.
The dream of Conwill and his parents is to partake in the upcoming U/13 National Academy Rugby Tournament in Durban from the 26th to the 30th of June 2023.
Moment like these shape a person for the rest of their lives.
For a young boy to have never had the opportunity to play rugby from U/7 to playing his first game at the age of 12 and being chosen for a provincial team. That is something incredible! This young boy deserves to represent his province.
My name is Elizma Visser, the manager on the wine farm. This beautiful family has been part of my life for the last 8 years and I really want to help them. If this story stirs the same emotion in your heart, as it did in mine, having two young boys who also play rugby, please donate to Conwill’s cause.
We thank you in advance.
