Personal message
I want to share my experience of the poor treatment I received from the Free State state health system. Upon arriving at Kroonstad casualty at 18h30, I waited until 00h15 before receiving assistance and being admitted to Ward 5. The next day, four specialists examined my toe and decided to discharge me. One doctor mentioned that my toe was dead and would fall off by itself. I left without pain medication, only blood pressure medication, and endured significant pain.
Seeking better advice, I consulted private Dr. Tiekly, who discussed the expensive nature of the required amputation, estimated at about R27,000.00 for one toe (including theater, anesthetist, specialist fees, and others). With additional affected toes, the total cost remains uncertain. The private doctor provided antibiotics, pain relief, and other medications to alleviate my suffering.
I appeal to everyone reading this message to open their hearts and consider helping me with a donation. Your support will enable me to cover the costs of my amputation procedure conducted privately. Your kindness can make a significant difference in my journey to better health.
