Kleinbooi (full name Kleinbooi Sebeko Masubelele), aged 68, needs a new leg! Kleinbooi needed to have his right leg amputated below the knee, due to complications with diabetes.

Kleinbooi lives in Sekakene, a rural settlement about 70 km outside Polokwane (Pietersburg), in South Africa. He was employed the last 23 years before retirement as a heavy-duty truck driver; he is a former colleague and was a valued and loyal employee our company for all those years.

A new, good quality prosthetic limb will cost around R70.000 or 3500 Euros. It will be made of Titanium, with a carbon fibre “foot”, which will allow him to walk much more naturally than an old-fashioned “wooden leg” and give him decent mobility and independence.

In addition, on an annual basis he will have purchase a new silicone sleeve; this is important especially for diabetics to prevent infection etc. at the base of the stump. This will cost around R10.000 (500 Euro) each year. The prosthesis itself should last five years or longer if looked after well.

So our aim is to raise R100.000 (5000 Euros), to have sufficient money available for the first five years to also buy the replacement silicone sleeves.
