Hi everyone
For those that have not met me; My name is Carlene, I am 54 years old and I am going blind.
When all this started, I moved into a residential facility for the blind. My family and I were promised that I would be provided with the training and support to help me become an empowered blind person. Nothing can be further from the truth.
When I realized that the only objective of KZN Society for the Blind was to subjugate, neglect, most of whom are late 60s to mid-80s and quite frankly, lock up and throw away the key, I posted my first BackaBuddy. Through this I managed to get a computer, web cam, internet, a cane and even some clothes.
A HEART FELT THANK YOU TO ALL THAT DONATED.
Now I ask for your help again. LOFOB 9 Legue of friends of the Blind, which I have been trying to get into for a while, has sent me an application. Because we are so far removed from town, we cannot get a state ophthalmologist appointment to fill in the application.
I can only think of going to a private doctor, one cost approximately R 2 000.
The urgency in the matter is that my sister-in-law is the only one earning an income, actually working 2 jobs, plus she has other family obligations to boot. I have applied to Cambly but have yet to hear from them. Also being in Cape Town will be better for my treatments and upcoming operations.
I am setting my campaign at R 3 000 to help with petrol.

Carlenes plea Campaign

Hello everyone,
I'm Carlene, 54 years old, and I'm gradually losing my sight. Initially, I moved to a residential facility for the blind with promises of support, but the reality was different. Feeling neglected, I sought help through BackaBuddy and received essentials like a computer, web cam, internet, a cane, and clothes.
I'm now seeking assistance again to cover a private doctor's cost of approximately R 2,000 for a required eye appointment, as accessing a state ophthalmologist is challenging due to our remote location.
My sister-in-law, my only source of income, is already burdened with multiple jobs and family responsibilities. I've applied to Cambly and hope to relocate to Cape Town for better treatment options and upcoming operations.
Thank you for your continued support.
