Brendan van Staaden is an avid Road and Mountain Bike Cyclist and adventurer. Having raced the 2016 ABSA Cape Epic and achieving 11th in the Grand Masters category, he is no stranger to suffering on a bicycle.

He is also no stranger to suffering life on life's terms, having endured tragic loss of loved ones, of business and other unforeseen life circumstances. Brendan is currently recovering a livelihood taken from him 2015 and is dedicating his efforts in 2018 to those who’ve endured this type of loss and are trying to win their own way back to being productive members of society.

So far this year 2018, Brendan has cycled 7962Km. On Sunday 11 November Brendan races the Telkom 947 Mountain Bike Challenge. The followng weekend on the 18th, Brendan will race the Telkom947 Road Race in the Veterans category and then ride the loop for a second time in aid of his charity @therecoveryfoundation. The weekend thereafter on 24 November 2018, Brendan races the Coronation Double Century 202Km race in a 12 man team aiming to do a sub 6 hour race.
