Personal message
My name is Antoinette, and I write to you with a heavy heart as my mother, Brenda, faces a challenging time ahead. On December 19th, 2023, Brenda suffered a devastating fall resulting in an open fracture of her ankle. Despite the efforts of the medical team at Mamelodi Regional Hospital, complications arising from her diabetes have led to the difficult decision of amputation, scheduled for this upcoming week.
Brenda, at 62 years old, is a resilient woman who has always strived to maintain her independence. A pensioner relying on her Sassa pension, she has supplemented her income by caring for elderly individuals in our community, providing them with companionship, cleaning, and cooking services. However, with her extended hospital stay, compounded by the loss of her partner's income, who will soon be unemployed, the financial strain has become overwhelming.
In an effort to alleviate some of this burden, I've created this Backabuddy page to rally support for my mother during this challenging time. It breaks my heart to see her endure such hardships, especially as she faces the uncertainty of her health and future. Your generosity can make a world of difference, allowing Brenda to focus on her recovery and well-being without the added stress of financial worries.
The funds raised will go towards essential expenses, including purchasing a wheelchair and walking aids to facilitate Brenda's mobility, as well as assisting with her rent payments. Every contribution, whether big or small, will help to lighten her load and bring a ray of hope into her life.
If you're unable to donate monetarily, your kindness in sharing this campaign or contributing any unused wheelchairs or walking aids would be immensely appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read Brenda's story and for considering supporting her on this journey towards recovery. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in her life and show her that she's not alone in this fight.
With gratitude,
Antoinette
