We are too old for this dammit!!!
Two friends having a glass of wine too many, when the crazy one turns to Bonni:
Denise: “you know lining up at comrades alone last year was kak! Here, let me fill your glass of wine.”
The wine flows and the minutes fly by and the crazy one adds…
Denise: “you should run my 20th Comrades with me – we will run for Rainbows and Smiles, so it will give us massive motivation!”
Bonni: “I don’t have shoes”
Denise: “WHAT, more booze?”
(fills glass)
Bonni: “20 is a lot of Comrades, my friend!!”
Denise: “Yess …. let’s POT.”
(fills glass)
Bonni: “I said 20 Comrades is a lot! That can’t be FUN!”
Denise: “WHAT!! … you will RUN!”
Bonni: “ said that can’t be FUN”
Denise: massive embrace… “I can’t believe you are going to run with me… thank you, I love you.”
And then voila, there was a Comrades Marathon on Bonni’s to do list.
We ask that you support this initiative as they run for children with cancer. Bonni is undertrained (hectically) and had promised herself she would never do another Comrades… but it took a little wine, Denise’s puppy dog eyes and her beautiful heart to convince Bon to run. Denise is running her 20th Comrades, so let’s together make this achievement more than just an 87.7km run!!
Let’s support these old bags as they take their wonky legs for a 12-hour adventure on the 11th of June 2023!

The mission of Rainbows and Smiles is to provide emotional, social and financial support to families and caregivers in need when a child or children of that family is diagnosed with a life threatening illness such as cancer. In addition, Rainbows and Smiles encourage childhood cancer awareness to educate in the hope of promoting early detection.
