Another year without Jed, another crazy way to make a difference!
I will run comrades (which is about 89kays) in memory of children who lost their lives to childhood cancer and to raise funds for those still fighting the disease!.... the last kay will be for my only son who died from brain cancer at the age of 6 years 8 months and 8 days. I miss you everyday Mr Noooonie Pants - you remain my driving force, my reason and my inspirational. I love you my brave little soldier! Mom is still fighting Noooonie, every single day.....
My journey with Jed:
August 2008, 2 mths before his 4th birthday, my only child, Jed, was diagnosed with a high grade malignant brain tumour. Jed had 3 major brain operations, 35 sessions of radiation, and was on experimental chemo from the date of his diagnoses. Sadly, 3 yrs later on 11 July 2011, Jed passed away in my arms at home.
My world was totally devoted to Jed’s health and fighting for his life. Getting chemo protocols approved, fighting the medical system and spending all my energy on trying to save my son’s life. After Jed passed away, a large part of me died with him. I was totally lost and felt completely alone with no purpose left.

Jed was physically paralyzed, blind and mute when he passed away but that smile never faded…. And so my journey of discovery began, turning my negative energy, pain and hurt into something positive.
I am NOT a natural sport's women and the thought of continuously pounding on the tar for 12 hours scares the crap out of me. This race is about Jed and creating awareness for other children who have lost their lives... hoping to use their legacy to raise awareness; honour their precious memories and raise funds for Rainbows and Smiles.
The fight is never over! My hope is to honour their memory through this event and highlight the desperate need for awareness....!
