This summer I will be joining my friend Cami on her fundraising trek to Mount Kilimanjaro.

"It all started with Avela. A gorgeous, strong little girl who was 7 months old. Avela arrived at the burn unit where I was volunteering after her home had gone up in flames. She was suffering from severe burn wounds, and had lost her mother in the fire. Her bravery shone through while she endured months of treatment. She recovered from her injuries, and left the hospital to be reunited with her family - taking a piece of my heart. Avela made a huge impact on my life, and all I can hope to do through the Avela Foundation is make the same impact on other children"

Devastating facts about burns in South Africa:
- Burns are the most common preventable cause of death in children 0-4 years old
- Burns are the third most common preventable cause of death in children under     
  18 years old

The Avela Foundation is a non-profit organization that is committed in helping children with burn injuries on their road to physical and psychological recovery.  In 2016 The Avela Foundation, together with the Smile Foundation, donated the first Lumenis CO2 to the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in Cape Town. This is the first machine in the country dedicated to treating children with burns.

Our fundraising trek to Mount Kilimanjaro will be raising funds to bring a second Lumenis CO2 machine to South Africa. Additionally, funds will also go towards the sustainability of the U-Matter Program, which gives psychological support to burn surviviors and their families.

In order to participate on this trek I must raise a minimum of $5,000.00 for my friend’s foundation.
No donation is too small… Or too big.
100% of your donation will go directly to the Avela Foundation.
(I fund 100% of the cost of the trip)
