Good day.
My name is Bertwell Cassivin Maizena and I am a second year undergraduate bachelor of education student at Nelson Mandela University. I grew up in the predominantly coloured,black and Indian community of alra park Nigel on the east rand of gauteng but I later relocated to port Elizabeth so that I can complete my undergraduate degree.
I matriculated in 2015 with a bachelors pass from alra park secondary school and went on to be the first one in my family to study at wits University in braamfontien. I only completed three years of my studies at wits and in my fourth year I had to deregister due to me having untreated bipolar disorder. As of 2020 I've been living with my father in a single income household and in 2023 I managed to apply and got accepted at Nelson Mandela University to complete my degree.
The institution will however place me in my second year as their curriculum and modules are different from wits University's. My request for funding through this campaign is important because the national student financial aid scheme(Nsfas) does not fund students when they exceed a certain amount of years being registered at public institutions of higher learning in South Africa. Dispite the setbacks that I have faced in the past I do believe that I now have a chance to work for what I have dreamed of.
The funds I recieve from doners will be very important to me as it will help me pay for my registration tuition, accommodation and transport and living allowance. Having fees to fund my university studies will bring a huge amount of change to my life and the opportunites that I have.
My vision is in the next 10 years so to also do my post graduate studies but for the 2024 I am in urgent need of atleast R120 000 to pay for my registration on the 15th of January 2024 and 1st semester tuition by the 1st of April 2024
