Personal message
After losing 28kgs in my late 20s, I regained my high school love for sports and took up cross fit and weight lifting and bought a mountain bike to maintain my fitness, strength and a healthy body. Turns out, I'm not a bad sportsman at all!
I haven't cycled much on the road but I've always wanted to participate in the Cycle Tour and I'm sure my new strong legs will carry me through the kms! I also want to cycle for something bigger than myself so I'm cycling to raise funds and awareness for Afrika Tikkun, a very credible development NGO operating in Cape Town and Johannesburg. I'm representing West Coast Weightlifting in the Afrika Tikkun Cycle Tour team and I challenge you to get on your wheels whatever you like to do in life, whether it's cross fit or weightlifting or swimming, join me to raise funds and have fun on the journey to race day in March!
I'd be delighted if you could sponsor me. The Afrika Tikkun team goal is R100,000 and my own personal fundraising goal is R15,000. I'm sure you can help me get there. All funds are directed via Backabuddy straight to Afrika Tikkun.

Afrika Tikkun

Afrika Tikkun (AT) was founded in 1994 with the goal of developing and uplifting young people in disadvantaged communities resident in the Republic of South Africa. With like-minded partners, Afrika Tikkun aims to end child poverty and youth unemployment through a holistic approach that begins in early childhood and ends with productive adults accessing the economy. Our approach provides all-inclusive care (nutrition, health and social) services and helps SA’s youth achieve success with a model called Cradle-to-Career 360°, which has earned Afrika Tikkun recognition for being one of the most impactful organisations in South Africa. We operate from four centres in Gauteng and one in Cape Town.
