The Rhino Orphanage (TRO) is a Non-Profit Organisation; dedicated to caring for orphaned rhino calves. They are completely dependent on public donations to help provide optimal care for the calves until they are released back into the wild.

 

Every amount helps TRO make a difference and to rescue rhino calves. 100% of donated funds go directly to rhino care including food, medical care, security measures and equipment.

 

An additional need is evident; South Africa is faced with many challenges; one of which is loadshedding and intermittent power interruption leaving households and, more importantly TRO, without electricity - sometimes for extended periods. Without electricity, TRO can’t adjust temperatures in the calves’ enclosures, can’t use essential infrared lights in the enclosures, struggle to prepare meals for the orphans and risk failing to operate optimally during power outages.

 

Here’s how you can help me resolve this!

A solution to the loadshedding and power-outage problem is to install batteries that would help them continue essential operations for a number of hours. Such a system costs a minimum of R35k and your donations would help fund for this cause.

Costs are based on

• 4 x batteries at R4k each (estimated) which should each last around 15 years
• 1 x Inverter / Solar panels estimated at R15k
• Labour costs
