Thanks for taking the step to get involved on this adventure with me and the Eden to Addo Corridor Initiative. Hopefully you have seen my email about the incredible work the initiative is doing, if not get hold of me and I will send it to you. You can also take a look at their website link below right.
I have been fortunate enough to grow up with summer holidays spent in Knysna. I still get there at least twice a year. This area is very special for myself and family. So when the opportunity arose that combined my love for trail running and to create awareness for what is going on in and behind the mountains of this beautiful coastline, I decided that I want to be involved. I am hoping that all of you that use and have an interest in the coastline from Port Elizabeth, Jeffereys Bay, St. Francis, Storms River, Natures Valley, Keurbooms, Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, Sedgefield, Wilderness and all the way to George will also want to understand and contribute to this initiative.
If you guys help me reach my target of R25,000 I will be lucky enough to run the path that was used, not too long ago, by generations of elephants who traversed this huge area. 470km within 108 hours, Addo to the Knysna forest, self-supported and you can all track me during this, from 06 July to 11 July. It's taking a lot of training to get ready for this, but that won't be enough, I need you to join me in creating awareness and contributing to the above total. All funds raised go directly to The Eden to Addo Corridor Initiative. Please tell your kids, families and friends about the cause as well, as that is ultimately the main goal, the more people who know about it, the more successful the initiative will be.
We are fortunate that with the conservation efforts from The Addo National Park, Baviaanskloof World Heritage Site and The Garden Route National Park that this area is still mostly here. It's the connecting of these areas that needs to be restored hence the "Corridor Initiative". So that one day, in the near future, animals (big and small), insects, birds and plants can once again freely move and pollinate the corridors. With every project the initiative undertakes the balance is slowly but surely restored between these reserve areas which we unknowingly cut off from each other. It is vital to this area and the South African ecosystem as a whole.

Eden to Addo Corridor Initiative

THE DREAM: The Eden to Addo vision is based on the practical potential within the landscape connecting the Western and Eastern Cape of South Africa. But this vision is guided by a deeper question and dream: What if we could re-establish ancient elephant migration paths across the Cape, what then? What other wildlife will benefit and how would that restore the ecological balance of the region?
