Hi my name is Dr Barbosa. I’m currently a newly appointed community service doctor at Gugulethu CHC. The doctors room here is in need of some TLC. The couches are broken and the coffee machine doesn’t work. You can’t imagine how important a comfortable seat or a dose of caffeine is until you have worked a 30hr call.
I’m hoping to be able to replace the couches here and buy a new coffee machine in order to make the lives of the current, and future doctors, working here a little bit more bearable. Often people don’t want to come back and work here, so hopefully but improving the working conditions, doctors will be more willing to come back post community service, to service a deeply in need community.
