Just keep swimming!

My four-year-old nephew Harry (#HopeForHarryman) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukaemia in September 2021. This came as a total shock to our whole family!

I had the privilege of spending a night in the hospital by his bedside and just saw how many children are being affected by this dreaded disease.

It is so unfair how these little KIDZ who are so innocent have to undergo such intense treatment and try their best to understand why. With the treatment comes HUGE financial strains on many of our South African families. I HOPE that through this Rainbows and Smiles Midmar Mile 2022 challenge, I can raise the necessary funds for this foundation to help many more affect families financially. 

This BEAUTIFUL foundation has the most appropriate slogan, 

“EVERY CHILD HAS THE RIGHT TO FIGHT” 

…not only provides support for medical treatment, but also goes the extra “mile” to provide food packs, stationary, toys and general support to those less fortunate families in our country!

Let’s help put a SMILE on another child’s face as they face the biggest medical obstacle in their life!

The mission of Rainbows and Smiles is to provide emotional, social and financial support to families and caregivers in need when a child or children of that family is diagnosed with a life threatening illness such as cancer. In addition, Rainbows and Smiles encourage childhood cancer awareness to educate in the hope of promoting early detection.
