Following hot on the footsteps of a successful 30 kay 702 Walk the Talk yesterday, 25 July 2010, is the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge and we are gearing up for the challenge in terms of training time and collecting donations for MaAfrika Tikkun.
Not part of the original training plan for the Andean Giant Expedition (see http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Andean-Giant-Expedition/133573413345166 for more information about our 2010/2011 challenge) which we embark on, on the 28th November 2010. BUT since the expedition includes a 300+km cycle from the Pacific Coast Town of Caldera through the Atacama Desert to based camp we thought - why not!
Once again we get to participate for a good cause and this definitely makes it all worth it. I have been bowled over by the support and generosity of MaAfrika Tikkun staff and the NGO's professionalism and caring attitude in general and am therefore looking forward to another opportunity to assist them in their endeavours.
Philip will experience this for the first time pre, during and post-this BIG challenge but his passion for cycling and helping the less priviledged develop these talents will be keeping him motivated.
Help us to raise funds and in so doing support us as we take on ninety four kilometers of tarmac on our own steam!
We plan to use this challenge to launch what we hope will be a Youth Cycling Development Initiative - for which we will also be partnering with MaAfrika Tikkun and their incredibly devoted staff members. Watch this space for more information.
Training starts tomorrow - wish us luck and don't forget to click on that Donate Here button soon.
thank you

Afrika Tikkun

Afrika Tikkun (AT) was founded in 1994 with the goal of developing and uplifting young people in disadvantaged communities resident in the Republic of South Africa. With like-minded partners, Afrika Tikkun aims to end child poverty and youth unemployment through a holistic approach that begins in early childhood and ends with productive adults accessing the economy. Our approach provides all-inclusive care (nutrition, health and social) services and helps SA’s youth achieve success with a model called Cradle-to-Career 360°, which has earned Afrika Tikkun recognition for being one of the most impactful organisations in South Africa. We operate from four centres in Gauteng and one in Cape Town.
