Personal message

"New"ish Mom trying to get back into my sports. The truest statement in parenthood to date is that you will never truly know what it is like to have children until you bring your own into the world, I have a deeper sense of appreciation and gratitude since becoming a parent and know how special these little creature are to us and what it is like when they are sick never mind critically ill, so I feel it is fitting to support this amazing charity whilst clocking up the miles to get me to Ride Joburg.

Rainbows and Smiles is a childhood cancer foundation close to her heart.  If our brave little fighters can face hardship each day, then keep those legs pumping as admiration for their strength. 

Every year in South Africa, almost 1000 children are diagnosed with cancer. Our socio-economic challenges, and generally poor awareness of early warning signs of childhood cancer, means that many of these children are diagnosed very late into their illness. 

As a result, they face a difficult battle. Team Rainbows Riders is on a mission to raise awareness and funds for children fighting cancer.

Rainbows and Smiles is a community-based, charitable foundation dedicated to providing emotional, social and financial support to children diagnosed with cancer or a life-threatening illness and their families and caregivers.

The government does not fund rainbows and Smiles, and we rely on the generosity of our supporters and the passion of our volunteers to enable us to do the work we do.
