Personal message

When I first heard of Avela and their mission to help young burn survivors, I was incredibly moved, and after seeing pictures of the first Everest trek, I was very inspired. So, when I learned that there would be another Everest trek, I obviously decided to undertake the challenge.

I’m incredibly thrilled to be a part of this journey and to be sharing the experience with such incredible people. This is a life-long dream (and a monumental challenge), and knowing that it’s for an amazing cause makes the experience even more special. I can’t think of a better way to achieve a personal milestone than by knowing I’ve contributed to a cause that will make it easier for children who are burn victims to achieve their own milestones and victories. I won’t lie: I’m very excited, but I’m also a bit scared. But, if I can achieve one of the most challenging treks in the world, maybe it can inspire and remind others that they too can achieve what sometimes seems nearly impossible.

With your help, I’ll be closer to achieving a once-in-a-lifetime journey, and hundreds, if not thousands of South African children will be closer to achieving theirs.
