Bindi, the world’s most courageous teddy bear, will swim the Midmar Mile to raise awareness of and funds for The Teddy Bear Foundation (TTBF) yet again.
TTBF is a registered non-profit organisation to support abused children. 
Bindi, a previously-abused bear herself, realised that the recent scourge of incidents where children have been sexually abused, demands from every South African to raise their hand (or if you are a teddy bear - your paw) and take a stand against this.
With the help of TTBF there are many survivors – just like Bindi. To survive abuse, you need to be courageous like Bindi. 
From being a scared bear hiding in a cupboard, Bindi is now making a lot of noise for this foundation who has a very difficult challenge to support abused children. 
She swam a double Midmar Mile in 2019, twice rode the Joburg Cycle Challenge, raced on a concrete boat as part of the Concrete Society of South Africa’s annual boat race and even helped to tag a rhino. 
Bindi knows that the only way one can overcome such major trauma as abuse, is with the help of very good friends. 
Therefore, when she takes on the Midmar Mile, she is not alone. She has two former Olympic athletes, as well as a group of dedicated professionals from all walks of life to not only swim with her, but to support her all the way to the finish.
World renowned Paralympic and Olympic swimmer Natalie du Toit, together with Elvira Wood, who fenced for South Africa in the 2008 Games in Beijing, will don their swimming suits to swim with Bindi, yet again.  
The rest of Team Fortissimo – consisting of Arthur Blake, Armas Ferreira, Deon van Niekerk, Robyn Merry, Ricus Venter, Meagan Harris, John Karle and Steph Cilliers – will also be in the water to raise awareness and funds for the foundation. The youngest member of the team, a gutsy 10 year old lady with a big heart is Calista Wood swimming her 2nd Mile and the oldest is George Watson, a Midmar veteran and Legend swimming the Midmar for the 44th time!
So come and join her. You can either swim the Midmar Mile with her, or you can donate money directly to TTBF to show your support.
You don’t need to be an Olympic swimmer, you just need to be a safe swimmer.
