100km with Character -Team Murrays Good Men

The wave of violence against women and children is a hugely troubling situation and one which causes me considerable concern. This violence seems to have become the norm in South Africa and barely raises an eyebrow. It is time that we all said “Enough is Enough” and work towards putting an end to it.

 Since the death of my son, Yonni, six years ago I have volunteered at children’s homes mentoring boys, helping with their homework, being a sounding board for their problems and their successes and a positive male role model.

 The Character Company actively and positively mentors boys from as young as 5 to grow up to be better men, men that will not tolerate the current status quo, men that will say No to this violence. The Character Company is a long term mentorship program for young boys growing up with absent fathers. The program offers weekly and monthly activities, holiday camps and one-on-one intervention as well as giving support to single mothers and raising awareness of the impact of absent fathers on our families and society.

 On Sunday 10th November the Character Company is joining with other men and women who want to make a difference and cycling the 100km challenge in partnership with Planet Fitness and Fruit & Veg City at Cradlestone Mall in Krugersdorp.

 

I have the honor and privilege of having three good men in my life, Shawn, Eddie, and Vasco who believe this violence must stop, who know how to behave towards women and children, who have become the most caring “big brothers” to my daughter Tessa and they have committed to completing the Character Company Challenge with me.

 We need to raise as much money as possible to support the Character Company in MENtoring more boys to become Good Men through one-on-one mentorship, camping holidays and other activities but we can’t do this alone we need your help! Please help us by sponsoring us as much as you can per km, share this message with your networks so that we can really start making a difference.
