Personal message
Siya Jantjie, aged 15, is an example of a child who's life was made possible by Red Cross Children's Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa.
Twelve years ago, April 2008, 11 days after his 3rd birthday, Siya was almost killed by a hit and run drunk driver. He was treated at Red Cross Children's Hospital in Cape Town and the dedicated doctors and nurses in intensive care saved his life. It has always been Siya's dream to somehow repay the hospital and he would like as many people as possible to help him to do this.
South Africa's public health system has always been under severe strain largely due to the high burden of infectious diseases and trauma. This pressure is largely evident in the hospital Emergency Centres. The COVID 19 pandemic will stretch the health system even further.
Please help Siya in assisting Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital to complete an upgrade of the Emergency Centre that is currently under way. "The upgraded Emergency Centre will provide a much needed facility to deal with the large volume of patients requiring acute care in a child-friendly environment.”
Siya will be running 10km per day for 10 days on a treadmill and asks you to sponsor his run.

The Children's Hospital Trust

A hospital dedicated entirely to children – especially children predominantly from impoverished communities throughout Africa – is critically important. So important, that it needs a champion to make sure that it’s able to keep doing the phenomenal work it does.
That champion is the Children’s Hospital Trust.
