Our 2018 Elite team of cyclists are ready to take on the Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge for children with cancer. This year we will be cycling in reverse; the race will be just as long, just as hilly and the city will be shut down so that we take over the streets of Jo’burg. Our climbs will be downhills and we will need to work on the sections we went freewheeling down last year. It’s a new fresh and exciting challenge.

Every year in South Africa, almost 1000 children are diagnosed with cancer. Our socio-economic challenges, and generally poor level of awareness of early warning signs of childhood cancer, means that a large number of these children are diagnosed very late into their illness. As a result, they face a difficult battle.

Team Rainbows Riders is on a mission to raise awareness and funds for children fighting cancer.

Your champion’s chosen charity is a community-based, charitable foundation dedicated to providing emotional, social and financial support to children diagnosed with cancer or a life-threatening illness, and their families and caregivers.

Rainbows and Smiles is not funded by government, and we rely on the generosity of our supporters and the passion of our volunteers to enable us to do the work we do.
